I'll be honest, I've only really every played Borderlands 2 (and planning on playing Borderlands 3).
I got Borderlands 2 having never played Borderlands, and the QoL updates that were in 2 made it so when I bought the first one on steam during a sale, I could not stand playing it.
And when Pre-sequel came out, it got a pretty lukewarm reception so I never bothered playing it since I loved 2 so much.
