New to this site- I need help please

I am new to this site. I would love to play all of the arcade games. I was given instructions on how to choose the game and download it, but I have no idea how to open it. It comes as a zip file and when I open the folder, it is a .u14 file and nothing on my computer will open/play the game. Please help, any advice would be much appreciated!

I would start with an easy emulator so don't bother with MAME arcade dumps for now, look at the other arcade rom sets instead

the roms still need to be kept in zip format though, do not extract those

they should be stored in a roms folder of whatever emulator you choose to use

for a new starter though I would go for something simple but still cover a number of systems like FBA (Final Burn Alpha) http://www.fbalpha.com/

MAME although support more systems also has games in it's list that do not work yet or work but very badly either buggy or just too slow to be playable, you can try MAME if you like though but go for a GUI version
