SaGa 2/Final Fantasy Legend 2. It's such a nostalgia trip, even with revamped graphics and gameplay. The music, of course, is even better, going from this to this. This was probably the first game I actually listened to the music on its own for through the sound test mode. Admittedly, I did need to resist the urge to pick the third model for the robot and name it Acguy. My first run, I'm going through with the same party I did the first time I played this game.

    Lord of Arcana.

Fun, but not as polished as Monster Hunter.

Getting my ass handed to me constantly in Izuna: Legend of the Unemployed Ninja. But I'm having fun, and I'm slowly but surely making progress.

Just another game I'll have to buy; and they say piracy doesn't lead to game sales!

About 20 hours into it now (Chapter 26 out of 44, I'm definitely taking my sweet time with it), and I'm liking it a lot. Battle system is actually really fun to play, even though it isn't all that complex. There are quite a few good ideas thrown in there, though: kicking a torch and setting half the tavern on fire is definitely a pretty cool way to end a fight; so is ordering your mage companion to blow up a bridge or make the ceiling fall on the huge monster. In another example, I liked how you could rush into the maze-like ruins and take on a dozen undead warriors, or you could sneak around and pick them off one by one with guerilla tactics.

Also liking some of the side-story chapters that don't have much to do with the main plot, but rather just show the crew going on some kind of an adventure (investigating a haunted mansion was my favourite so far). It's filler, but of the delicious kind. They're a bit like the loyalty quests of ME2. Actually, the whole game feels and plays like Mass Effect 2 in a way.

The bossfights usually require some kind of a special tactic to beat, too bad the game pretty much tells you what to do and the whole thing lacks any kind of challenge - and that's my major complaint about the game. It's ridiculously easy. Not to mention every character in your party -including yourself- has five or so lives for each battle. In other words, it's nearly impossible to get Game Over'd, because if you die, you can revive with full HP five times in a row. And if you do end up dying five times in a row, chances are you're doing something wrong.

Even though I understand some of the spoken dialogue, my Japanese isn't nearly good enough to let me comment on the plot, so I'll skip that part. It does have its share of clichés, though.

Bottom line, it's fun, but don't expect the second coming of Christ.

Well, I wouldn't go that far.

Plus, there are no blue chicks to bang in this one.

Soul Calibur 3's Chronicals of the Sword mode.

Still fun, using only custom characters.

Cosmic inspired me to run through Half Life GOTY edition again, since I haven't played it in a long time, and to also play through the 2 expansions since I never got a chance to as a kid. I'm also going through on difficult this time, since last time I beat it I was too noob to handle the hardest difficulty.
