I wandered through a local store and discovered something awesome, sunrise alarm clocks.
Waking up in the winter has always bothered me, because it's pitch black in the mornings, simply flipping on the lights physically hurts... Way back in my teens I attempted to build a clock that'd flip on the lights before I woke up, by attaching a pull chain on a lamp to a wind up alarm clock. This cheap $20 chinese clock does the job vastly better. Half an hour before waking up it pops on a dim light that incrementally increases to full illumination when you want to wake up. Now I'm not treated to stabbing eye pain in the morning and don't need to bury my head under a pillow and accidentally sleep in an hour (but like, I still can if I wanna ).
