First game I ever bought with my own money was Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy & Leather Goddesses of Phoebos which were 1 & 2 in the set. It was around 1986.

The first money I legitimately earned was by picking cherries and selling them when I was 12 or so. I'm not entirely sure what I bought with that money, but I'm pretty confident I used it to buy some games. Perhaps Megaman Battle Network 2, when Game Stop got an early shipment and they just started opening the boxes of them when I came in to shop. Great game, perhaps my favorite of the Battle Network Series, with a close tie with Battle Network 3: Blue.

I saved up birthday, Christmas and allowance money to buy TMNT for the NES back in '89 shortly after it came out. It was like $60, which was a lot of money for a 10 yr old.
So its still one of my favorites. I know everyone hated that game for the dam level. But because I had saved up for it and played it so much, I can still beat the dam without losing a single turtle. Still never beat the Technodome though.
